Latest On Snow Chances …

After a gorgeous day like today, it’s hard to even imagine the possibility of snow or wintry weather within the near future. The truth is, we are going to have a brief cold snap associated with precipitation before we see another warm, sunny weekend next week.

The question is will it get cold enough before all the precipitation moves on out? As precip starts to enter Alabama Monday night, we can expect this precip to be all liquid. The bulk of the precip will move through in the overnight hours before the temperature plummets. Around sunrise Tuesday morning,  is the period where we could see a brief mixture or snowflake. The ground should be rather warm and any road hazards should not be an issue.

All in all, don’t get too excited snow lovers, however there is a glimmer of hope for a light, light dusting on elevated surfaces at best. Ironically enough, this is the year anniversary of ANOTHER snow event. Check out the details at the NWS: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/bmx/?n=winter_03012009
