0z NAM…

Thursday 9:29pm

…just reviewing the 0z NAM, which has completed its cycle.  Here are some QPF amounts (liquid) for some cities in south/central Alabama:

Evergreen: 0.97″

Montgomery: 0.62″

Troy:  0.81″

Andalusia: 0.94″

Assuming even a low liquid to snow ratio, these totals would indicate the possibility of 4-7″ for places like Montgomery and Troy, with even more for places like Evergreen and west/southwest Alabama.

The NAM continues to strengthen this storm more, bringing it to sub 1000 mb as it pushes over Florida.  If this earlier strengthening trend continues, our totals will increase.  This will likely be a wild ride.

Before amending the forecast, we’ll wait on the 0z GFS to arrive, as well as monitor trends to the west.

Thundersnow has been reported in parts of northern Louisiana.

  2. Well, once again, a lot of hoopla and closings around Montgomery for nothing. Where is the BIG snow for Montgomery???? Nothing worth talking about!
