It was a nice Wednesday, as expected, but more big changes are ahead.  The latest in a series of Gulf storm systems will spread a band of rain into south Alabama in the overnight hours tonight.  Soaking rains are a good bet for Thursday, Thursday night and even much of Friday, before the rain begins to taper off on Friday afternoon and evening.  General rainfall amounts over much of the area should average between 1 and 2″.

 Rainfall amounts in excess of 2 inches are possible in localized areas.

In the wake of the heavy rain, much colder air will push into Alabama for the weekend.  Afternoon high temperatures will top out only in the upper 40s on Saturday and Sunday in many locations, along with gusty northerly winds.
