Winter Storm Warning expanded to cover all of North Alabama
Winter Storm Warning has been expanded to cover all of North Alabama…
Slightly warmer air is beginning to move in from areas south of the Tennessee Valley. This is going to help provide the transition from freezing rain/sleet/snow to all rain in many areas throughout the afternoon. The weather will slowly get better in some of these areas. However it looks like we will have significant travel problems that may last into the overnight hours across all of Tennessee and the following counties in Alabama: Lauderdale, Colbert, Limestone, DeKalb and Jackson. Interstate 65 from the Alabama state line to Nashville has been reported very slick and snow-packed in some areas. The Tennessee Department of Transportation has reported several cars off the road along the interstate in Tennessee. Please slow down and allow plenty of distance between you and the car in front of you. Also remember to have your headlights on, increase your stopping distance and your acceleration distance. Overnight tonight we expect a brief period of sleet and snow as the storm moves to our east. Temperatures will fall into the upper 20s and roadways with water left on them will become slick in spots.
