We’re monitoring the development of a winter storm that may bring some icy conditions to the Heart of the Valley by the end of this week. The storm will be getting organized across the southern plains on Thursday and will begin spreading rain across northern Alabama and southern Tennessee by Thursday night.

By Friday as low pressure tracks across southern Alabama colder air will get pulled into our area changing rain over to freezing rain and sleet by Friday evening, and light snow by late Friday night into Saturday morning.

How much ice we get and when it starts is all dependent on the eventual track of the center of low pressure.  If the track is farther north, we will see rain hang around longer and less ice.  If the track is further south we stand to see more in the way of snow.  Stay tuned for updates throughout the week with this developing winter storm.
