Even colder last night…and more broken records!

This morning was our coldest morning of the year and of the 2009-2010 winter season! We reached 14 degrees early this morning (FYI – we haven’t reached 14° since January of 2003). Despite the bitter cold temperature, this was no where near the record low of 4 degrees set back in 1982. As we go through the next couple of days, our high temperatures will be slowly climbing an upward trend; however our lows are still going to be well below the freezing mark.

Another broken record: Today, we reset the record of consecutive days below the 25° mark. This record was set at 7 days back in 2001, however yesterday we reached 8 days and this morning we reached 9 days. We are expected to be below 25° for at least another night.
A record soon to be broken: The record for consecutive days below 30° is currently set at 11 days in January 1970. We are currently at 10 days, so this record will be tied tomorrow and most likely broken the following day.

A record most likely out of reach: The record for consecutive days below 32° is currently set at 18 days in January 1940. It looks like we will be above the freezing mark Thursday night at the earliest, so this record will stand.

The good news? Only three more night of subfreezing temperatures!

The bad news? Three more nights of subfreezing temperatures!
