Hmmmm…
Interesting Data… For those new to really following the forecast, we use computer models to assist us in forecasting Alabama’s crazy weather. These models are fickle and often feature big swings from one run to the next (they are run four times per day).
I write that to emphasize that this is just model output, it’s not a forecast. I think we’ll see a northwesterly trend in the model output later this week, and the concept of accumulating snow in Alabama will be most valid in the Tennessee Valley, NOT central Alabama. But, this is interesting:

Note the swath of accumulating snow for the northern half of the state. Again, not a forecast.
My personal opinion is that the potential exists for a light snow accumulation Friday night/Saturday along and north of a line from Hamilton to Gadsden – maybe a dusting, maybe a little more. Hard to really nail down specifics this far out, so understand that this opinion of mine will be revised all week, pending new data.

Josh,
Thanks for suppling the information and model predictions. I realize they change quite a bit but it is fun to see what they forecast.
On an unrelated subject, why has Alaska been so “above normal” on temp for so long? I check out the CPC sites and AK is almost always on the high side for temps. Is this a function of global warming, a stuck weather pattern or something else? Just curious. Michael
